A guy that caught my eye this weekend is South Carolina junior Billy Buckner, who struck out 16 Clemson batters in 7.2 innings on Saturday. Buckner is a transfer from Young Harris College, a small school in Georgia.
I could not find his Young Harris stats, but his USC numbers in four appearances this season look pretty sick:
22 IP, 16 H, 34 SO, 2 BB, 2 HR, 3.27 ERA
Sweet Tigers website. I like it a lot. I think the Tigers will be much improved this season and win about 70-75 games. I don’t think they will contend for the division just yet.
