Billfer, I read something about a new MLB channel that’s supposed to start in 2009 with baseball shown 24 hours a day and available to all cable, and dish providers even with a basic package. Could you expand on this a little. Will we really be able to watch any game we want to 24 hours a day?
The new baseball channel will not allow you to see any game you want 24 hours a day. That is what Extra Innings is for and that you have to pay for.
The new channel was a big part of the recent negotiations between MLB & Direct TV and Cable providers in that to be able to offer Extra Innings the providers would also have to carry the baseball channel on whatever their basic service is. Direct TV accepted the terms, Cable didn’t but it seems now will carry the channel.
The channel will have some games but generally just be baseball specific content; akin to the NFL Network.
That’s awesome that Schilling blogs like that.
