Another play-by-play defensive metric that looks pretty interesting. I haven’t read it in depth yet. One thing to note is that it’s the first PBP metric I’ve seen that doesn’t rate Inge favorably.

Curtis and friends go to the Pistons game. I know it doesn’t mean anything, but the fan in me thinks it’s quite cool when the athletes from the various Detroit teams support each other.

Incredible attendance numbers so far. Thursday’s matinee will have 35k+ and this weekend’s games will all be sell outs. The Tigers are averaging 33K per game which is just about their full season pace for last year. And we haven’t hit summer.

I was reading about the new fielding evaluation method (SAFE) and it looks pretty complex. From one quick read, I really can’t tell if it’s an improvement or not. I’d like to see how it correlates with other methods and how consistent it is from year to year. I will read it again later. Evaluation of fielding and how it interacts with pitching is my favorite saber area right now.
This system claims Inge to be a negative and Guillen to be a positive…Hmmm. That’s not the way I see it.
One thing I noticed is at the bottom they used given names instead of nicknames. That #2 CF listed as Exavier Logan is the beloved NOOK Logan. Nook is the best outfielder I’ve ever seen.
