Sounds like a deal is almost near to sign him. Now I really like the first day.

Insider only, but Keith Law says the Tigers made the best pick of the draft.

Sounds like another great draft. I don’t like that whole “signability” stuff though. It really defeats the purpose of giving top picks to the bad teams.
Great pick with Porcello. Would have like him with the Nats. Bilfer you run a great site

btw- I added a link to your site on mine
I don’t think it does, Jeff M. With the luxury tax the small market teams have more money than ever; look at Kansas City. They shell out $55 million in a mediocre pitcher. Had they spent less they could’ve allocated more money and afforded to take Porcello No. 2 overall, where he should have been. I firmly believe the kids will sign with whatever team drafts them, as long as they get (close to) the money they’re asking.
Also, I believe Scott Boras was Josh Beckett’s agent when Dombrowski drafted him with the Marlins. That makes me over 100% confident that we sign Porcello.
This probably doesn’t fit under a draft post, but they were interviewing Leyland on 1270 and he said that Zumaya was probably going to be out the rest of the season.
I don’t really matter why they end up falling, the problem is that they do consistently fall.
The worst team should get the best available player. If they don’t want that player, they should be able to trade down for multiple picks. That’s the only way we’ll ever get some parity in the league.
