QUOTE: There’s talk that the Tigers and Crosby have mostly agreed to terms but that they’re waiting to announce the deal to avoid drawing the ire of MLB. Haven’t heard anything new on Porcello. My gut feel is that he winds up a Tar Heel.

John Dewan posts the top defensive players at each position using the +/- system. Only Granderson and Ordonez make leaderboards right now. Inge usually does very well on this system, but he isn’t among the leaders

The Tigers are second only to the Yankees in ab’s with runners in scoring position – and they have the best batting average in that situation. Hence lots o runs

Porcello will sign. They won’t let him get away. They wouldnt have drafted him if they werent willing to spend the cash. Will he cost more than 7m? Prolly.
The Hardball Times article is more evidence the Tigers offense is bound to fall off some in the second half. Thankfully, the pitching staff looks like it’s ready to pick up the slack, as it did in this series.
