Tim Marchman opines the Porcello deal helps the New York teams. With the Tigers giving the finger to MLB, it should encourage the Mets and Yanks to do the same.

Justin Verlander is the only Tigers on the squad, but they are managed by Leyland. Grady Sizemore makes it as a reserve but Granderson doesn’t.

Quote: “…The Tigers will need to make two moves involving their 40-man roster this week to clear room for Jurrjens and draft pick Rick Porcello, who is expected to sign today.”
This article makes it sound like they have some kind of grace period to make these moves. Is that the case? or would they have to make these moves today? (as they already signed Porcello, and Jurrjens is pitching for us)
I’m fairly certain that Sleeth and Kirkland have already been taken off the 40 man.

Sleeth looks like he is on it
so is Timo Perez
The website has updated since you posted that. Both Sleeth and Kirkland have been removed.
