Awesome work seeing how Zone Rating, Ultimate Zone Rating, Davenport Translations, and Probabilistic Model of Range all relate in terms of evaluating defense

Why not take a flyer if he’ll agree to a minor league deal? It won’t hurt and it’s not like the Tigers would be relying on him.

I just saw something from Yahoo Sports Rumors that said the Tigers aren’t interested in signing Geoff Jenkins and are more comfortable with a platoon of Timo Perez and Marcus Thames in LF. The Detroit News was the source of the rumor per Yahoo.
What gives with that? Wouldn’t a platoon of Jenkins and Thames be a better situation? That is assuming that Jenkins wouldn’t be too pricey, which I really don’t foresee happening. We need some more LH pop in this lineup and someone like Jenkins would be perfect. I’m sure there are other options, but do you guys really think they’ll stick with Timo for a whole season? He was great at the end of the year, but we all know his career numbers, unlikely he can keep that pace up for an entire season.
I also understand not getting into a long-term contract with someone when you know Maybin will be up in 2009, but I still don’t think it would hurt to have a guy like Jenkins around for depth if nothing else.

Zumaya out till mid 08.
I guess Joel Zumaya is my generations Bird Fidrych?
OMG Jim I just wrote that in an email to someone. He is just too erratic to depend on. This is just unbelievable but they better fill a big bag of money for Jones and look for someone else in the future.
