A great interview with a former Tigers draftee from West Point. He’s given up baseball and has served 15 mos in Iraq

Jack Morris says Verlander’s shoulder is bothering him because Verlander isn’t extending like he used to. While there’s still questions about pitch f/x, we saw that a little bit earlier on with his release point.

A detailed look at former Tiger Andrew Miller. The conclusion isn’t surprising. He has some flaws in his delivery, was rushed to the Majors, and needs a third pitch.

Regarding Miller’s mechanics, I remember coming to that conclusion last season. I was merely watching a game that Miller happened to be pitching and looking through some studies on pitching mechanics, coming across one that found three mechanical flaws linked to shoulder injuries, and Miller was exhibiting all three. I wish I could remember what those flaws were, and no longer have access to the study. Either way, the Tigers were wise to sell somewhat high on him.
I just realized something. If I am looking at the schedule correctly, the Tigers haven’t won a Saturday or Sunday game yet this year.
Maybe they are partying too much on the weekend?
0-10 Sat, Sun
14-9 Mon-Fri
Is that right?
Jason – Good observation. What gives? That’s a mighty difference. Has something to do with day games on the weekends, too, as they don’t seem to have a very good record there, either, if I remember correctly.
Thank god there is no more Sunday night baseball.
I take it the Tigers didn’t do too well Sunday nights?
0-3!
