Washburn has 8 wins also. In mid-August, 8 wins isn’t criminally bad at all. It’s actually just a little below average for someone who has thrown 150 innings.
Currently, the average amount of wins for any pitcher with 146-156 inning pitched is 9.4 wins. Jackson has thrown 151.2 innings. Washburn is at 152.1
There is still 29% of the season left. If Jackson/Washburn get 9 more starts each and if they pitch well, they could realistically end up with 11- 14 wins each. 14 wins is what Jackson had last season for TB.
Only 1 AL pitcher right now has 14 wins.
But like Washburn, Jackson has pitched considerably better than the average pitcher. Therein lies the rub.
