Mike Rogers beat me to this (or maybe he saved me some time) but he takes a look at the pitch f/x data for Robbie Weinhardt from the AFL.
-
Premium piece from Tigstown, but Mark Anderson talks with a bunch of the Tigers contingent after they won the AFL title. Nice to see a favorite of DTW, Robbie Weinhardt, get the win with a dominating 2 inning performance to cap it.

Former Tiger Matt Treanor is returning to game action in the Dominican Republic. For those who were wondering, what is Matt Treanor up to these days…

Miguel Cabrera got a first place vote from a writer in Seattle. Thank goodness it wasn’t from a Detroit scribe. Oh yeah, and the writers still aren’t done handing out awards. This is more drawn out than college bowl season.
-
Granderson, king of all media, will be doing some offseason television work.
-
Curtis Granderson wins another award for excellence in the field of awesomeness.
-
Angels are more interested in Granderson than Jackson, but the Tigers are more reluctant to move Granderson.

I was busy and didn’t get to see Weinhardt in the AFL championship game: how’d he look in just the eye-ball-test?
he looked great…good deception, kinda hides the ball behind him. 4 k’s in 2 innings
heres a clip of him (and iorg making a play) closing the AFL out

OK, I took a look, but didn’t think he had good deception. Doesn’t twist his body around much at all. Hides the ball in his glove fairly well. Just saw 3 pitches, so what do I know.
Thanks for the link. About what I expected. Still really excited about the arsenal he has.
Deception is less about looking like Dontrelle Willis and more about keeping the ball hidden behind your body for as long as you can.
he holds it behind his back, longer than most overhand pitchers. similar delay to rapada, but from another slot. i dunno, i noticed it and so did the AFL announcers.
From mlbtraderumors this morning:
Detroit seem to be becoming more determined in their quest to trade pitcher Edwin Jackson. An unnamed executive is quoted as saying, “It’s like they want to give him away, and I don’t really understand why.”
Maybe DD read on a blog somewhere that EJax was just “a guy who throws hard” and is just hoping to get some team’s 4th outfielder / minor league prospect for him. 🙂
Either that or DD is still concerned about his propensity for “acting aggressively”–don’t forget MLB fined him for “aggressive actions” during the Porcello-Youkilis brawl. Who knows when the next brawl will happen, and who’s to say he won’t be out there standing around looking aggressive again. Best to trade him before another outburst of angry glaring…
Not sure how long this will stay up, but I guess Stafford’s injury is all Yahoo needs to see…http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/boxscore?gid=20091126008
They took it down. For some reason, Yahoo had a box score up for tomorrow’s game. All the way down to the individual stats (Culpepper gets pulled for Stanton). I don’t want to kill the suspense, but GB wins 26-0.
still there, haha!
Turns out it was the first game’s box score. Though it did have the Lions at 2-9.
