For the first time ever I’m excited to see the Tigers play in Minnesota. Sure, I’ve been excited for games that have taken place in Minneapolis, but never excited by the prospect of the Tigers being there. But with the Metrodome no more, we can just enjoy the Twins new digs. Oh yeah, and the winner of the series will be in first place come Thursday.
Max Scherzer is coming off his worst start, which was against the Twins. He’s also got this thing where he fares poorly against a team when he sees them in a second consecutive start. Which if the trend follows it would mean that his last start would no longer be his worst of the season. I’m not expecting that, just sayin’
He’ll be opposed by Scott Baker who happened to be the opposition last time too. Not much has changed since the Tigers faced Scott Baker last, so I’m going to cheat and just say read last week’s pregame.
There is no word if Paul Emmel will be on hand to haunt Denard Span.
The big news from the Twins camp is that Joe Mauer may miss the series. In typical Twins fashion though his replacement, Wilson Ramos, stepped in and had a 4 hit day on Sunday.
The Tigers lineup will be:
- Jackson, CF
- Damon, DH
- Ordonez, RF
- Cabrera, 1B
- Boesch, LF
- Inge, 3B
- Raburn, 2B
- Laird, C
- Santiago, SS
I haven’t complained too much about lineups this year, but I really think Alex Avila should be catching today.
Also, I talked with FS North in a Know the Enemy segment that they did to preview the series.
Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins – May 3, 2010 – MLB.com Preview
I agree that Alex Avila should be in the line-up tonight…..he had a great game last time….especially at the dish…..and he should be given a chance to keep it going at the plate.
He is the future behind the plate and the Tigers should build on the confidence of his last game,
It looks like it might be any early exit for Max.
I hate the Twins.
The pitch to Thome was a good pitch he went and got, the pitch to Cuddyer was meat.
It seems that Thome kills us, regardless of how we pitch him.
Not if we “Verlander” him (4 BBs)
Scherzer just can’t get the Twinkies out… Bummer.
I like playing the Twins. To be the best you have to beat the best.
Is this the real Scherzer we’ve all been hoping not to see?
I still really like his stuff. He’ll get it turned around.
I bet we come back and tie this one up (or at least get to 4).
Terrible timing…
Goodnite Irene…… I mean Scherzer.
c’mon Jim……get him out…….NOW!!!!
He’s not fooling anybody……and he has no go to pitch.
I’d keep him in. He needs to learn to pitch out of these situations.
and Leyland insists on being shown ….. 🙁
Watching comebacks from 6+ runs down is always more fun…but watching teams get blown out is not. Bruins/Flyers game here I come.
I got some pepto bismol for Scherzer.
What’s his problem? He’s getting ripped. Location? Pitch selection? I don’t get it.
Time to send Scherzer down…….and bring Gallaraga up.
Why? Before today, he had 3 good starts, 1 so so, and 1 bad. Both of these bad starts were vs Twins.
I’m just frustrated with the way the game has started!
what’s his problem? Did you see that meatball served up to Cuddyer? Rolling slider [or curve] right over the middle of the plate, and belt high. A beach ball served up like that will never reach the catcher’s glove…..and it didn’t. He’s already proven he doesn’t have it tonight….and Leyland’s gonna stick with him…. 🙁
I’m listening to the radio and watching gameday. I don’t get a real great perspective.
And we’re already down 7, mind as well let him ride it out. Save the pen.
Yeah, he’ll just have to grind it out.
Boesch hit a rain maker. His double had some major hang time and hit off the CF wall at about 403 feet..
It looks like he is the real deal.
What’s wrong with Raburn tonite…..it looks like he’s swatting at flys up at the plate.
A perfect spot for a double steal.
A wild pitch will do.
Rally, rally, pitchers name is sally!
7-3 now, that’s a little better.
Good run-manufacturing there, nice professional hitting by Damon and Ordonez. It seems like the sort of thing we had a lot of trouble with in the past.
I know a Sally Baker actually
Leyland should’ve yanked his butt at least 3 innings ago. Tigers just start to show life, and the moron walks 2 men and allows another run……grrrrr…… 🙁
Yeah, but…Brad Thomas
Man..Scherzer has been getting rocked and been issuing a lot of walks the last couple starts. What gives?
Edwin Jackson gave up 10 runs last week. It happens.
Hopefully Raburn can at least get a decent swing this inning. And Inge hasn’t had the best game either.
OK, I take back the Inge part.
Bilfer cursed this thing the moment he uttered that he was excited for a game in Minnesota. One should never be excited about such things, they are like work.
Yet another great AB and hit for Ajax.
Austin can’t be stopped!
Strikes out too much. Send him to Toledo. 🙂
