14: Home runs by Detroit so far in June (leads the majors)
13: Number of runs scored by Detroit yesterday against the Rangers
10: Number of runs given up by the Rangers over their previous 6 games
0: Number of games won by Cleveland, at home, against the Rangers
1: Number of games won so far by Detroit, on the road, against the Rangers.
1.5: Number of games Detroit needs to make up to take over the Central Division lead
Sure, only so much can be made of one game, so let’s see what happens the next two. But just maybe this series could be a good indicator of how we stack up right now against Cleveland.
Tonight Rick Porcello will have the task of keeping the Rangers to a manageable run total. Unlike Scherzer, Porcello is coming off a good start, a 4-2 win over Minnesota. Matt Harrison has been doing even better for the Rangers–it has been over 14 innings since he has allowed a run at all. Time to find out if all the offense last night was a fluke.
Oh, and in the draft the Tigers have taken Colin Kaline, grandson of Al.
And Magglio is still with Toledo.
Today’s Player of the Pre-Game: Miguel Cabrera
After watching Boesch baesch the ball yesterday, Miguel says today it’s the right-handers’ turn.
Today’s Ghost’s-Last-Stand? Lineup:
- Austin Jackson CF
- Casper Wells LF
- Brennan Boesch RF
- Miguel Cabrera 1B
- Victor Martinez DH
- Jhonny Peralta SS
- Alex Avila C
- Ryan Raburn 2B
- Danny Worth 3B
Have you guys seen the All Star voting numbers yet? Russell Martin is leading at Catcher and is only hitting .236… Man I hate the Yankees…It doesn’t even matter if their players are playing poorly, they still manage to rig the system…Joe Mauer is second right now and he has hardly played at all this season. Isn’t he still on the DL? And Alex Avila is at 3rd who has legimate All Star numbers, especially when compared to the two in front of him…Sigh…
Peralta is not even in the TOP FIVE at SS, and he is hitting .320.
I hate Bud Selig, because the game being screwed up in so many ways is ultimately his fault. He needs to lead the MLB to a better future, and crap like that doesn’t work for me. He’s responsible so hate on him, not the Yankees.
Most superstars seem to get the benefit-of-the-doubt calls on the pitches on the border of the strike zone. Not Cabrera.
Raburn with the RBI….This cat is on fire….well, comparatively speaking to first couple months of the season.
Why in the world was Worth sent with 1 out? If there is a worse 3B coach in baseball than Gene Lamont, I’d like to know who it is. Half of the players just ignore him now and do what they want.
Gamecast is saying that Raburn was thrown out at home at the Worth was safe. Am I missing something? I mean, I won’t argue, Lamont is pretty bad, but I’m a little confused.
I meant to say “Gamecast is saying that Raburn was thrown out at home and that Worth was safe…”
Apparently I type like a 4-year old on occasion…
Avila and Raburn scored, Worth was thrown out trying to score from first. Although he didn’t look like Worth if you watched the play; he looked like Dead Duck.
Okay…I got it cleared up now, Gamecast is way off on their scorekeeping tonight. I switching to Yahoo! Sports instead. Strange, usually Gamecast is dead on.
Thanks for the info, it sucks not watching these games live.
Gameday was screwed up for a while, too. First it said that Raburn was out at home and Worth was on 3rd. The score was showing as 3-0 for a while. Then it became 4-0 and for a while it said “Unknown scores”. Eventually they got it fixed and we had an extra run!
My little league 3b coach was worse.
Because Lamont is a stupid man. It wasn’t even close and again he had no logical justification for the send order.
RBI-Burn !
With the way these guys are hitting now I’d take my time putting Magglio back in the lineup.
Inge too.
Bravo Tigers!
The Rangers staff has been lights out, and the Tigers at times have been known to make average pitching look great, and we all witness a Tiger offensive onslaught… go figure!
Maybe Lloyd will get another manager job in light of his mastery as a Batting Coach… and Lamont… well he’ll likely remain… Lamont.
20 hits, 8 runs against a pretty good team. Love to see that.
Seattle coming in for 4 games, lets keep it up………….. Cleveland is off Thursday and then the Injuns play 3 in the Bronx over the weekend. If all goes well we could have a good story to tell Sunday night.
Steve
PS……. Kevin I hope the Mavs win too
Heyyyy!! Did you see the chick in PINK Detroit gear holding up the sign about Mario and Rod & FOX Sports, during Monday nite’s game in Texas (6/6/11)??? That was ME!!!!!!!
Sweet…You were in CF, correct? BTW, when I attend the Tigers v. Ranger games, I bring a sign that simply sez “Put Tram in the Hall” but I never get any TV play time.
Rod and Mario commented on it, and said, we’ve gotta get these people better seats! So track them down before the game and ask them what they’re gonna do for you.
&&& I wanna go again tonite for GAME 3 & witness the “SWEEP” 😉
