Short and sweet for the W headed into an off-day.
Today’s game is free on MLB.tv. Check out the Tigers wearing 1944 throwback jerseys.
My pick to click is Cabrera. He’s fuming from yesterday.
1. Casper Wells, CF
2. Ryan Raburn, 2B
3. Brennan Boesch, LF
4. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
5. Victor Martinez, C
6. Magglio Ordonez, RF
7. Jhonny Peralta, SS
8. Danny Worth, 3B
9. Rick Porcello, P
Nothing like a #2 hitter with a .249 OBP. I mean, literally nothing like it, in the rest of the league.
It makes Dodgers 2nd hitter, Juan Uribe’s .283 OBP look better.
The Tigers are going to have to bolster their lineup at the trade deadline if they want to make the playoffs.
Did you know that we have the 2nd highest team batting average, the 3rd highest team OBP, and 3rd highest team OPS, in the American League.
Yeah Jon L, just a bad coupla games, and one of them was against Kershaw. I’m not too worried about it.
I’m worried about Ryan Raburn remaining in the line-up after the trade deadline.
Ryan Rayburn…. ugh
This game is the mlb.tv free game of the day.
Good start.
The Ghost!
That one was a freebie.
Who was that guy?
As of today, Raburn has played in 62 games and has 75 K’s in 211 ABs – that’s more than 1 (K) for every 3 ABs… which i believe surpasses the standard set by Mr Inge.
Lily has 8 K’s but has given up 3 HR’s through 4… talk about a dichotomy.
With that double Boesch raised his average to .300 for the year.
What a throw! Magglio!!
Nice block by VMart too. Hope he isn’t hurt.
And a great block by VMart!
Loney didn’t even come close to touching home there; great block by VMart. I’m glad Loney didn’t choose the more ‘direct’ route to home.
I’m not watching the game, but if the pitch location is relatively accurate on ESPN gamecast, Porcello is up in the zone far too often. When he’s pitching like he has the past few outings, the scouting report on him should be simple; layoff the sinker and low balls, and look for the fastball or non-sinking sinkers about belt high.
Boesch bobble….We are trying to lose this game…ugh….
despite the outcome (Loney rbi single), i’ve got to give credit to JL for lifting Porcello – Loney was batting .177 vs lefties and Porcello didn’t seem to be fooling many of the Dodger hitters.
After seeing that graphic on FSD, it appears someone that works there reads baseball-reference.com
All of their ‘record-breaking’ stats were taken from this article:

Or they read this blog…I posted it a few days ago, though in fairness, I pulled it from a tweet.
Of course… I forgot that I got the link from here first. Kudos to you, sir.
Raburn with another stellar day at the plate.
I like how Raburn argues with the ump after every strikeout. Like a guy who strikes out 40% of his ABs is going to get the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully umps are going to start tossing him.
Let’s go VMart, we need a base knock here.
The Donkey!!
I have a bad feeling about this.
Jumping Jax!
Why does our pitching staff have to suck against the NL?
Though I’m slightly reassured by the fact that just about everyone in the stadium has already left.
WOW.
I thought that ball was going to travel a lot farther than that when it came off the bat. Phew.
Damn, that made me happy.
great drama. great catch, austin!
Put it in the win column. Finally, back to the friendly confines of Comerica Park!
tigers will break the 1 million fan mark on friday. currently sitting at 995K
Almost a four-hour game. Enjoyed listenting to Vin Scully calling every minute of it. He is an artist.
