A little pressed for time over these next few days friends, so I’ll leave the majority of the commentary up to you.
But tonight’s game is brought to you by the number 11. As in 11 straight for JV, and 11 straight for the Tigers. And 2011, the year of the Tigers (year of the “Tiger” was 2010).
Pre-Player of the Game is Ramon Santiago – as I’m guessing he’ll be the 11th guy inserted into the lineup.
Someone please post the lineup when avail.
Tonight’s lineup:
Jackson CF
Rhymes 2B
Young LF
Cabrera 1B
Martinez DH
Avila C
Peralta SS
Betemit 3B
Dirks RF
Verlander is starting.
Gavin Floyd is 12-10 this year with a 4.35 ERA.
His last start was OK but short — one run in 5 and 2/3 against the Indians on 5 hits and 2 walks. His start before that was Detroit’s come-from-way-behind 9-8 win, a week ago Saturday. He gave up 4 runs in 5 innings on 8 hits.
Rhymes is 3 for 4 off of him in his career. Santiago has 2 homers off him in 15 at bats.
Let’s get number 11 for Sparky and Bill Freehand!
CLE playing Rangers tonight – i’m pulling for CLE over TEX – because if the Tigers have a better record than the Rangers (or Angels), DET will get home field against the red sox (or Rays) regardless of whether the wild card team has a better record than DET or not.
Currently DET has a 2 game lead over TEX
Verlander is looking a little rough tonight…no runs yet, but the his pitch count is sky high.
Just think–we could have had Adam Dunn instead of Victor Martinez
Remember Victor from ‘Smoke Signals’? This Victor is way better at baseball than that Victor.
Also better than Victor / Victoria.
The RCA Victor dog though, he gets some votes.
V-Mart hitting .395 after a Cabrera walk. That’s the biggest difference between this year and last–this year we make them pay.
Santiago definitely needs to invest in a pool table if he already hasn’t done so.
JV’s WHIP this game is an embarrassing 1.14.
Good article about the Tigers someone posted on Freep.
