Game 2012.14: Rangers at Tigers

What would a Tigers-Rangers series be without a rainout?

Given an extra day to think about it, Leyland has decided to change the original lineup and go with the Raburn-Inge-Laird power lineup.

This probably has a little to do with what Laird does behind the plate:  Laird is turning into Rick Porcello’s personal catcher, having caught all of his starts in 2012.

Here is today’s revised lineup.  Andy Dirks is day-to-day, but has been ruled out for today.

  1. Austin Jackson CF
  2. Brennan Boesch RF
  3. Miguel Cabrera 3B
  4. Prince Fielder 1B
  5. Delmon Young DH
  6. Ryan Raburn LF
  7. Jhonny Peralta SS
  8. Brandon Inge 2B
  9. Gerald Laird C

  1. Our bats better come out of hibernation fast, or we are really $crewed …. big time!

  2. Inge. Just remember, he’s not there for his glove, he’s there for his bat. .100

  3. Just pathetic ….. looks like the Bad News Bears out there! Do we have a miracle come-back in our back pockets!

  4. When is enough enough with Brandon? Sigh. This is Gary Sheffield all over again.

  5. Inge botches the double-play grounder, fails to stop another grounder, and barely knocks down another. Why?

  6. The Tigers have been spanked by the Rangers the last three games going back to last October. Hopefully that will motivate Verlander?

  7. I pity the fans who had tickets to see JV pitch the first game ….. and are now stuck watching this.

  8. Okay, I’m ready for Texas to leave town…

And Inge, once again, proving with his offense and defense that he does not belong on a major league roster, yet the Tigers just can’t let him go because he has a “Tigers” tattoo…

  9. Something has got to be figured out at 2B. This three man rotation with Raburn, Inge and Santiago is an absolute disaster…

    1. Especially since the Sherzer and Schlereth portion of the trade is not looking so hot now.

  10. I have never seen anyone swing at so many really bad pitches ….. time after time …..
    like the Mendoza Twins!

      1. I think Raburn and Inge are the new standard… The “Ingeburn line” has been established.

  11. looking on the bright-side, TX will be tired out from all the base running by the time they face JV tonight… and the other positive thing about today’s (or any) game is that the Tigers remain in the AL Central.

whatever questions were answered in Porcello’s first two starts, are once again unanswered… 10 hits, 9 R, 8 ER in one inning?!?! …brutal… and somewhat humbling.
