You know, as you peruse through the AL stats leaderboard and notice that Miguel Cabrera is 2nd in the AL in batting at .325, behind some old guy, 2nd in the AL in RBI, 5th in XBH and 8th in TB, you may forget that the Tigers have played an average of 5 games less than everyone, which equates to 20+ PAs for Miggy.
Last night’s game as about as exciting as one can get where you lose to the Indians in extra innings. Starting pitching was bad, Coke was bad, yet the Tigers were in a great spot to win in the late innings.
In other news –
– Romine/Worth here to stay. Drew wasn’t really discussed, says Brad Ausmus.
– No word on whether Joba owns Zubaz stock. Since Miggy is wearing the t-shirt: have fun.
Gotta win tonight if we want to take the series.
1. Kinsler, 2B
2. Hunter, RF
3. Cabrera, 1B
4. Martinez, DH
5. Jackson, CF
6. Castellanos, 3B
7. Avila, C
8. Worth, SS
9. Davis, LF
Maybe we can work a trade for Drew!
I guess there is something about Verlander and Pregressive Field!!! Or maybe the Indians in general…
last year, DET owned CLE (15-4). DET could have helped put CLE out of their misery with a meaningful sweep, instead they may have breathed life back into them.
JV’s (5-run) 5th inning in BAL and these first 3 innings are as bad of stretch he’s had in years
JV was bad for most of the first half last year also. A few years ago an outing like this would have been a freak, but as he ages, this sort of performance is going to become more common. Not that he is crashing and burning of course, but he just isn’t going to be as dominant as he was before. Greg Maddoxl, for example, made the transition from power pitcher to finesse pitcher and had a long and successful career. Last season Verlander seemed to be arriving at that point where adjustments needed to be made. Some claim injury, but I am not so sure. In any case, injuries are a big part of the “game” for an athlete, and as you get older… So, we wait and see.
…and at $28M per year through the 2019 season, DET fans sure hope he gets his mojo back
thus far, overall DET hitting has been good but the real X-factor has been starting pitching…so far.
with all the key injuries occurring for several teams, the losses in CLE are much less of a concern than DET experiencing a injury to one or more crucial players. ultimately i believe DET’s health/injuries could be the only thing to derail winning the AL Central
Kershaw gets bombed Saturday…Price and Heran on Sunday…Verlander today….The moon must be out of wack!!!!
Hey Alex how come you can only do that once a month??????
Trevor “Johnny Baseball” Bauer dominates the Tigers.
Two crappy pitchers shut us down and the Indians bomb the best pitcher we have…all in all pretty uninspiring!!!
And if Rod mentions one more time that the poor millionaires did not get their baeuty sleep one more time I think I will throw up!!!
Guess its time to burn the Zubaz. Such a poor showing I even got mad at Heidi tonite, although in her defense I was flipping between her and a King of Queens rerun featuring Brain Cranston..
That puts things in perspective.
