Good win last night, picked up a game in the WC race. Tigers haven’t lost at Target Field this season (there’s the jinx).
Farmer gets his first big start of 2016, over Sanchez and Pelfrey.
V-Mart and Kins still day-to-day.
1. Cameron Maybin, CF
2. Erick Aybar, 2B
3. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
4. J.D. Martinez, RF
5. Justin Upton, DH
6. Tyler Collins, LF
7. James McCann, C
8. Andrew Romine, 3B
9. Jose Iglesias, SS
Good game on MLB channel….B-Jays v. Mariners tied 1-1 in the 11th…who should I root for?
Mariners, in 24 innings, with both pitching staffs destroyed.
12 Innings, close enough!
I hate rain delays, especially during night games. Perhaps someday MLB will require new ball parks to have retractable domes. It could be worse, I could be gainfully employed and have to get up early tomorrow. One of my predictions for the Wild Card seems to be going down the drain. I thought the O’s had the best chance although I said they should at least split with the Red Sox. Well in the 3 games the mighty O’s offense has managed a total of 4 runs. Remind you of anybody?
Well, what are the chances of the Tigers winning a DH?
What are the chances of the Tigers winning a game Sanchez starts?
What are thr chances of the Pussycat offense scoring enough runs to win 2 games in one day? Even one game a day??
These ,my friends are very long odds!!!
Go Tigers!
chances of winning a DH today = low, especially w/Kinsler and VMart being out again; but their chances will increase dramatically if DET wins the 1st game (Sanchez = SP)
Dean has an ERA of 6.71 which means we should hit him. However against the mighty Tigers he has only pitched 6.1 and given up 2 hits and 2 ER. Santana only gave up 1 run in 5 innings against us last time so this will not be easy. To me, a key will be if we can show some discipline and get into the Twinkies ball pen early.
Got to keep the home crowd out of this game.
Upton filling in nicely for Kinsler by getting picked off…meanwhile Brad turns to Lamont and says “we got to work on that in spring training”!!!
Bird biggest problem is he can’t throw strikes.Fortunately for him he gets the Tigers today..6 k’s…swing swing swing and down goes thay ERA!..he’s going to ask Molitor if he can pitch the second game also….
Cabrera as DH, before today: .668 OPS. Might as well just give him an actual day off and play Inge or somebody.
Enough of this foolery, it’s Upton Time!
Spot on Coleman! It’s September!
For what its worth, I have really enjoyed seeing Willie, A. pitch this season. He has been fairly consistent and with little drama goes about his business. On the other hand, Willie, J. has been hot and cold.
+1
Romine has been like that all year..great D..chips in witb some hits at key times
Upton is a true Catch 22 situation..He is a big reason why the Tigers are so many games behind and lost the AL Central….AND He is a big reason, maybe the biggest, why the Tigers have a chance at the playoffs….
And I recall the old saying that it isn’t the best team that wins the World Series…it’s the team that is the hottest at the time. (BTW, did you see the Torii Hunter interview last night during the rain delay? They talked about the 2013 Tigers and how they were the strongest team in MLB that season. And Torii looked great and happy… and I didn’t realize how stout a guy he was but he’s a strong dude.)
Shane Greene has allowed 13 runs in last 13 innings over 12 appearances = not good
Gotta love the Twins.
With Victors dinger..this might be pen proof and not have to use KRod…way to go!
i agree, save a few bullpen pieces (+ KRod) for tonight’s game
Let the Lowe times roll?
Good to see a game where Lowe can pitch in the 9th and Tigers win!…hasn’t happened often!
Actually Lowe has been decent in his last outings admittedly under no pressure, but it would be nice if he could spell Greene for a few outings down the stretch.
You know I am starting to feel like we got a shot here, jinx notwithstanding….
Hi Jim…glad to see your attitude and optimism! Let’s play another tonight and win that one too! BTW, I was amazed at all the Blue Jay Blue in the Seattle stands when the Mariners they played the Jays.
Short trip from Vancouver. Toronto is a national team in Canada.
…so just adding to the whole ‘jinx’ thing – DET is scheduled to have JV start the last regular season game (10/2) of the year against ATL… so if (big “if”) DET were to grab a WC spot – if they had to start JV on game 162 (in a ‘must win’ situation), he obviously wouldn’t be available for the AL WC game on 10/4. First game of ALDS is 10/6
BAL ‘ace’ starter Tillman, tonight pulled after 1 2/3 IN – gave up 5 H and 3 ER
BOS has D Price pitching for them
Santana (MIN SP) has been pretty solid all year3.36 ERA & 1.21 WHIP
…needless to say w/DET’s next 7 games against KC & CLE – tonight’s game is a critical must-have win
