Game 2017.17: Tigers at Twins

As if a 4-day losing streak (most of which were lost in frustrating fashion) weren’t bad enough, the Tigers have just put Miguel Cabrera on the 10-day DL with groin issues, and brought up John Hicks.

Today’s Not Exactly Awe Inspiring Lineup:

  3. I’d like to put baseball player on skates in the NHL to see how macho they really are. Sano had no reason to react the way he did Love the way McCann stepped up. The umpires, trying to be politically correct, toss Boyd for no reason. Insane.

    1. I wonder if Casty can skate, he looked pretty disappointed that he didn’t get any action there.

  5. Today’s Not Exactly Awe Inspiring Lineup has stranded 14 so far. Not surprising.

  6. Hey Jud, JWillie with a 7 pitch inning. Guess who’s pitching the 9th. At the very least I’d have someone ready as a backup to drama queen.

    1. …thinking the same thing – 7 pitches, 6 strikes and 3 outs… time to yank him ha? …before he hits a double-digit pitch count

    2. regardless of who pitches the 9th for DET, it would be wise for DET to score a couple more runs in the top of the inning

      1. At least KRod was practically lights out in the 9th. … I mean for him lights out I mean!!..
        Then to make matters worse I turn on the Indians and guess who Pelfrey practically tosses a no hitter allowing only 4 in 5 innings for the Pale Hose. .. Heck he never pitched that good for us!!!!

  7. just saw the replay of JaCoby Jones taking that 90 mph fastball to the face… brutal, and about a 9 on the cringeworthy scale

  9. i do NOT get it! …the whole Ausmus/ FRod closer mentality – he may be the worst pitcher on the staff right now…and w/this staff, that’s saying a lot

  11. Justin Wilson has not given up an earned run yet this season, FRod pitched 7 times given up 5 ER…

  12. Our friend Mike Pelfrey gave up a 2 run dinger to Encarnacion in the 1st inning. Maybe they’ll take Sanchez.

  13. Brad doesn’t have the balls to move Victor from the 4 spot.. Or pitch one of the Wilson brothers in the 9th….

Two things: that pitch that hit Jones was sickening, and Sano is bush… whenever I see a baseball ” brawl”, I recall fondly my Coaching days… the boss and I would size up the opposing coaches and decide who gets who in the battle royal,,, he would always give me the biggest guy, because I am a “trained killer” good times….

    1. If the ump wasn’t a 6’7″ guy that might have developed differently. Still think it’s ridiculous that they thought Boyd was retaliating and tossed him. It was 2 innings later and you don’t retaliate with an off speed pitch behind the butt after your guy got a fastball in the mouth.

  15. Avila w/3 HR’s in 18 AB’s this year…his last season w/DET (’15), he managed just 4 HR’S in 178 AB’s
