“You can’t help but notice it, especially after four-five innings. But you just have to remind yourself it is a long way to go. Really after six is when I kind of really start to step on the gas and go for it, and I fell one out shy of that. After that it is like, ‘OK,’ let’s keep pitching and see if we can get deep in the game, save the bullpen and get us a ‘W.'”
That’s all Verlander had to say about getting Nicked for one hit. You knew he would be professional about it. Still, the look on his face when that ball went through Castellanos was priceless.

Pitching: Drew VerHagen vs Gerrit Cole
VerHagen so-so. I like Lettuce but am mystified as to why Aducci is not in right field.
Win one out of four. Business as usual…
And Tony the fact that Adduci is hitting over. 300 and Lettuce is around. 200 makes absolutely no difference to Brad
Of course not, also leaving Victor as a runner in the 9th down by 2 runs is odd to me.
Here’s exactly how Brad thinks. VMart gets on first in the 9th Tigers training by 1 or 2. He will not pinch run for VMart until he gets to second. Not thinking for a second that with a base hit the pinch runner can get to third And possibly the batter ending up on second.. Manufacturing runs is 99 out of 100, right in front of #100 use of Bullpen, in Brad’s coaching 101 book.
Jud, I didn’t get it. V-Mart doubled and was on 2nd with Casty on 3rd. A single would make it 7-6 if V-mart could score from 2nd. McCann grounded out scoring one, V-Mart glued to 2nd. Hicks K’d to end the game. In the end it didn’t matter but if McCann had singed think of how the game changes.
