Rain is in the forecast for tomorrow, so Brad might go for the Romine-Go-Round tonight. Or he might not! The suspense is killing me. If he does, Loon has it all planned out for him. But why should he start listening to us now?
Brad was running late so he used the quick random lineup generator. But it’s all about the future now, and the Tigers have signed some good baseball lineage, Pedro Martinez Jr. from the Dominican.
2 more plate appearances get Mr. Kinsler 600 for the season, which will vest his contract option (as Loon correctly figured out; the story I read said at bats, and I didn’t stop to think about it).
I will be very disappointed if at some point in this game they don’t call time and put a vest on him. I expect it to be an orange crossing guard type vest, which totally works with Tiger colors.
Here we go, last time the fans at Comerica get to see Brad Ausmus, and maybe a few more if these guys. I know I could do without some of these bullpen guys, who blew another nice outing by Mr. Boyd.
Today’s Lineup:
Ian Kinsler 2B
Alex Presley RF
Nick Castellanos 3B
Efren Navarro 1B
James McCann C
Dixon Machado 2B
Andrew Romine LF
JaCoby Jones CF
Jose Iglesias SS
Pitching: Buck Farmer vs Jose Berrios
Andrew Romine will be playing at least one position today. Castellanos at third. Hmm.
OK, the post is a little late today. But I’ve never missed one! I’ve just been a little stunned at the prospect of life without Brad Ausmus. It’s almost like when we lost Luis Pujols.
OK, maybe I do have a mean streak. Really though, I think Brad brings something to the table. Wrong fit at the wrong time.
The next manage is going to be a place filler, while they regroup. No Terry Francona, no Maddon. Hopefully a guy good at bringing along young players. On current staff I’d give Vizquel a look.
Today’s Lineup:
Ian Kinsler 2B
Alex Presley RF
Miguel Cabrera iB
Nick Castellanos DH
Jeimer Candelario 3B
Mikie Mahtook LF
James McCann C
JaCoby Jones CF
Jose Iglesias SS
Pitching: Daniel Norris vs Kyle Gibson
Let’s hope Van Man comes back, he might be part of the future.
The Tigers are only a game out of 3rd (that is, in draft pick terms).
Just a random fact I ran across: Nick Castellanos now has a 17-game hitting streak. The last Tiger with one longer was Magglio Ordonez, who ended his career with an 18-game hitting streak active.
Matthew Boyd had quite the game, to put it mildly. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.
Meanwhile, Justin Verlander through three starts with the Astros
21 IP
0.86 ERA
10 H
26 K
3 BB
Houston is getting its money’s worth.
Also, Romine might play all 9 positions this series. He also might not play at all–he is out of the lineup again tonight. This is very mysterious; after a long run of everyday Lettuce, we get none–but get teased with this all 9 position thing. Very odd.
Today’s Lineup:
Ian Kinsler, 2B
Jaimer Candelario 3B
Miguel Cabrera DH
Nick Castellanos RF
Efren Navarro 1B
James McCann C
Mikie Mahtook LF
JaCoby Jones CF
Jose Iglesias SS
Pitching: Buck Farmer vs Jharel Cotton
Miguel Cabrera is back. For some reason.
