I still haven’t processed the Justin Verlander trade, or the idea of this team without him. Justin still was must-watch baseball (and the other Justin as the only one still with must-watch at bats).
The September callups begin, some old faces, some new: Bryan Holaday, Blaine Hardy, Jairo Labourt, Efren Navarro. Holaday, Navarro added to 40-man roster.
Also Daniel Norris and Anibal Sanchez have been taken off the DL. Almost forgot about Anibal.
Today’s Lineup:
- Ian Kinsler, 2B
- Alex Presley RF
- Miguel Cabrera, DH
- Nick Castellanos 3B
- Mikie Mahtook LF
- Efren Navarro 1B
- James McCann C
- JaCoby Jones, CF
- Jose Iglesias SS
Pitching: Matthew Boyd vs Carlos Carrasco
Ian and Miggy 0 for 10? Kind of says it all.
It’s hard for me to appreciate the brilliance of Brad. I’m not smart enough. To show the brilliance for tonight’s game, Ian will DH (still out of #1 spot, Lettuce will play 2nd and Dixon Machado will play short. That will teach Iggy to have another 3 hit game! Fear not, Miggy will hold down the familiar #3 spot. And as we all know he is really due.
What really upsets me is that I think there is a move by Tiger management NOT to sign Iggy post arbitration. If so, I can predict another 5 years of missing the playoffs.
I was just typing that up in the game commentary! If you’re going to play Ian both games of a double header, might as well have him at 2nd. The way he’s hitting, Romine would make more sense at DH. Time to get the young guys some experience though.
