A rough health weekend here in the billfer household has left posting pretty thin. So we’ll take a look back at one year ago in the DTW while we recuperate.
Joe P Sheehan looks at similar pitches using pitch f/x data. Yorman Bazardo’s sinker is very much Derek Lowe’s and Jake Westbrook’s. Good news me thinks. for the Tigers sixth starter.
Matt looks at where the out fielders should be organizationally. A tough task at Toledo where some non-prospects demand playing time (I’m looking at you Timo).
Tigers signed catcher Raynolds Guzman from the Dominican and catcher Luis Sanz and right-handers Josue Carreno and Bruce Rondon will also be taking the field in 2008 in the VSL
I’m a Michigan guy. I don’t like Izzo. But I do like Kyle J and he just started a blog about Spartans Basketball. So I want to give him a shout out, some traffic, and some link juice. Hope I can help.
Jose Mesa the sequel? Older Colorado reliever. Declining strike out rates (about 1 K every other inning). A one year cheap contract is fine, but Morosi is talking mutli-year. Early impression is yuck.
A good question that I don’t know the answer to. Tony G was an exceptional fielder, but has had knee surgery and shoulder surgery the last 2 years. What’s left?
Very geeky and math heavy so be warned if it isn’t your thing. But at least scroll to the bottom to see how many plate appearances it takes for various stats to stabilize.
And The Tigers have hired Joe DePastino to replace Brookens as manager at West Michigan. DePastino is in his first professional managerial assignment after playing 13 professional seasons as a catcher from 1992-2005.
One of my favorite new sports blog features is the TWFE Above the Fold post. Big Al takes the topic dujour in Detroit sports and synthesizes what everyone is saying into one post. Great stuff.
