Tigers Minor League Wrap 5-27-08

Buffalo 6 Toledo 2
Eddie Bonine took his first loss getting knocked around for 11 hits in just 2 innings. Clete Thomas was 3 for 5. Jeff Larish was 1 for 1 before exiting to get on a plane.

Reading 1 Erie 3

Jeff Frazier went 2 for 4. Andrew Kown allowed just 4 hits, 1 a homer, in 8 innings of 1 run ball. He fanned 5 and walked 1.

Tampa 4 Lakeland 3

Rick Porcello allowed 10 hits and 4 runs in 6 innings. He walked none and fanned 4 and recorded 11 ground ball outs. Scott Sizemore went 2 for 4.

Mike Hessman tripled(for the 3rd time this season?) and walked. Casey Fossum fanned 11 (really?) while pitching 2 hit balls for 7 innings. Denny Bautista on his rehab assignment struck out 1 in 1 inning of work.

Dusty Ryan hit his 7th homer. Deik Scram had 3 hits and a walk. Danny Christensen allowed 1 run in 7 innings on 6 hits, 4 walks, and 2 strike outs.

Lakeland 0 Jupiter 1- suspended in the 2nd

Dayton 0 West Michigan 2
Joe Tucker tripled. Joe Bowen walked twice and singled. Jon Kibler had another excellent start with 6 K’s and 1 hit in 6 shut out innings.

Max St. Pierre hit a grand slam and Wil Rhymes tripled. Matt Righter allowed 2 runs and 2 walks leading to 1 run in 5 innings.

The Flying Tigers had an 11-4 lead in this one. Rick Porcello got roughed up a little with 4 runs and 9 hits in 5 innings. He walked none and fanned 3. Cale Iorg had 2 hits, but 3 strike outs. James Skelton fanned 4 times and added a hit.

Audy Ciriaco and Roger Tomas each had 2 hits. Alfredo Figaro allowed 2 hits and 5 walks of 7.2 innings of shut out ball.

Justin Justice doubled and homered. Wilkin Ramirez singled, tripled, stole his 14th base, and walked. Danny Worth and Deik Scram each added 2 hits. Lucas French allowed 6 runs over 7 innings, walking 1 and striking out 4.

Scott Sizemore homered, singled and walked. Ramon Garcia went 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 8 hits, no walks and 1 K.

Ronnie Bourquin doubled and knocked in 3. Cory Middleton also had a 3 RBI day. Phil Nardozzi pitched 5 shut out innings allowing only 2 hits.

Clete Thomas doubled, homered, and walked. Brent Clevlen and Erick Almonte each had a pair of hits. Jeremy Johnson allowed 2 runs on 6 hits and 2 walk in 4.1 innings. Yorman Bazardo allowed 1 run on a walk and and a hit in 2.2 innings.

Wilkin Ramirez and Justin Justice each had 2 hits. Ryan Roberson homered. Luis Marte couldn’t find the strike zone with 6 walks leading to 4 runs in 4.1 innings.

Brennan Boesch was 1 for 4 with a 2 run homer. Cale Iorg was 2 for 5. Matt O’Brien didn’t make it out of the 4th inning before allowing 6 runs, only 3 of which were earned, on 8 hits, no walks and 4 K’s. Zach Simons blew up to the tune of 5 runs in .2 innings.

West Michigan 1 South Bend 4
Ronnie Bourquin knocked in the only run and had one of only four hits for the Caps. Brandon Hamilton allowed 3 runs on 3 walks, no strikeouts, and hits. Andrew Hess did a nice job in relief allowing 1 run in 4 innings.

The homer barrage continues with Mike Hollimon hitting 2 (10 in the last 8 games) and Timo Perez and Nick Trzesniak joining him with a pair apiece and Freddy Guzman hit one. So today the Mud Hens hit as many homers as the Tigers have since May 3rd. Casey Fossum fanned 10 in 7 shut out innings.

Jon Kibler pitched a complete game allowing only 2 hits. He walked 1 and fanned 8. Casper Wells walked twice and singled. Jordan Newton tripled and drove in two runs.

Dontrelle Willis made another rehab start and stuck around for 96 pitches this time. He only allowed 1 run but he walked 4 in 6 innings and fanned 4. Jeff Larish is trying to catch-up to Mike Hessman and he knocked 2 more homers. Mike Hollimon added his 9th dinger and Brent Clevlen his 6th.

Wilkin Ramirez had a rough night with 3 K’s in 3 at-bats. Andrew Kown went 4.2 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, a walk and 4 K’s.

Danny Worth tripled and homered and Ryan Roberson added a homer and a single. Wil Rhymes and Justin Justice each had multi-hit games. Jon Connolly allowed 7 runs on 10 hits in 4 innings and owns a 7.07 ERA.

Ryan Strieby doubled, homered, and walked. James Skelton and Jeramy Laster each added 2 hits and a walk. Cale Iorg tripled and singled. Duane Below allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, no walks, and 5 K’s in 6 innings of work.

Lansing 5 West Michigan 3

Chris Carlson had 2 hits including a double. Ronnie Bourquin also doubled. All the runs allowed in this game were unearned coming on the heels of 3 errors. Lauren Gagnier allowed 1 unearned run on 4 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts in 7 innings.

It wasn’t a good night for Virgil Vasquez who allowed 6 runs on 3 homers in just 3 innings. Yorman Bazardo came on in relief and allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 4.1 innings while fanning 5 and walking none. And in an odd night, Hessman, Larish, and Hollimon didn’t homer. But Erick Almonte did.

Rick Porcello went 5.2 innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits, a walk, and 5 K’s. Brennan Boesch had a 3 hit game while Cale Iorg and Scott Sizemore had 2 hit games. Jeramy Laster homered and singled.

Joe Tucker had 3 hits. Audy Ciriaco and Justin Henry had 2 hits each. Alredo Figaro allowed 3 runs on 6 hitsand 3 walks while fanning 5.

Only 3 hits for the Whitecaps in this half of the DH. Manny Miguelez didn’t make it out of the first inning surrendering 4 runs and only recording 2 outs.

Wilkin Ramirez, Dusty Ryan, and Jeff Frazier all had 2 hits apiece including homers for Ryan and Frazier. Danny Christensen went 5.2 innings allowing 3 runs while walking 3 and fanning 2. Casey Fien pitched 2.1 scoreless innings.

Cale Iorg and Ryan Strieby had multi-hit games. Jonah Nickerson fanned 5 and walked 1 in 7 innings while allowing 3 runs.

Casper Wells had 4 hits including 2 homers. Audy Ciriaco tripled as part of his 4 hit game and stole 2 bases. Cory Middleton homered and Kyle Peter had 3 hits. Jon Kibler allowed 1 unearned run in 7 innnings of work fanning 6 and walking 2.

Dontrelle Willis made a rehab start and he struggled. He walked 3 and allowed 7 hits in 5.2 innings including 2 homers. He threw 46 of his 79 pitches for strikes. Mike Hessman and Jeff Larish homered again, and Mike Hollimon joined in on the fun.

Mike Hessman and Clete Thomas homered. Brent Clevlen had 3 hits pushing his line to 313/376/563. Casey Fossum got the win allowing 1 run in 6 innings on 3 hits. Blaine Neal allowed 2 homers in one inning of relief.

Mike Hessman homered and had one of only 3 hits. Virgil Vasquez went 5 innings and allowed 4 runs on 9 hits with 1 walk and 3 K’s.

Harrisburg 9 Erie 0
Wil Rhymes went 2 for 4. Ben Fritz allowed 8 runs on 9 hits in 6 innings. He walked none and fanned 6.

Vero Beach 2 Lakeland 6
James Skelton went 3 for 4 with his first homer of the year. Scott Sizemore and Ryan Strieby each had 2 hits. Rick Porcello allowed 2 unearned runs in 5 innings on 3 hits. He walked only one, but also struck out only one.

Lansing 2 West Michigan 4

Kyle Peter and Justin Henry each had 2 hits. Manny Miguelez fanned 8 over 7 innings while allowing just 1 run on 4 hits.

Roster Moves

The power duo of Mike Hessman and Jeff Larish were at it again. Hessman had two homers and Larish had one. Larish added two walks and Hessman added a single. Clete Thomas had two assists gunning down a runner at third and home. Eddie Bonine pitched a complete game on 104 pitches fanning 5, walking 1, and allowing 8 hits.

Harrisburg 4 Erie 3
Wilkin Ramirez singled and homered. Lucas French went 8 innings and allowed 1 run on 2 walks and 2 strike outs. Casey Fien blew the save allowing 3 runs on 2 hits, and two walks despite fanning 3.

Vero Beach 5 Lakeland 2
Cale Iorg singled and walked and stole 2 bases. Luis Marte fanned 6 and walked 1 while allowing 3 runs over 6 innings.

West Michigan 3 Lansing 7
Chris Carlson was a triple short of the cycle. Alfredo Figaro went 6 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, a walk, and 5 K’s. Noah Krol didn’t record an out but allowed 4 runs.
